Effective leadership should be based on the people commonsense. But the problem is every people do not have the same sense and it seems sense is not that common. Sense is also different based on the location you live and some people perhaps do not understand the sense meaning in other place. When you are talking about sense in leadership terms, common sense can be defined as down-to-earth, pragmatic and a fascinating attribute which can be admired. Often, people will understand and apply leadership based on the commonsense rather than the theory which sometimes is too complicated.

They will not use jargon and speak in a plain language. But they will communicate something and create emotional value at the same time. The reason is connected emotionally will make someone likeable. So, the basic of commonsense leadership is building emotional relationship between the leader and followers. It is about perceptions, feelings, judgment and evaluation.
A leader who applies commonsense leadership will know the right or wrong things. Through experience, the leaders have learned the sense of what to do in certain situation although it is very difficult and they have no experience about it before. They will not do something based on the prescriptions, textbooks, or logical analysis but their sense has leaded them to guide the followers to reach the goals. In doing something, they will not delay it and do it in fast and efficient process. This method has been proven so effective compared with processing the data through a long mental process. A leader who is successful relies on intuition, feeling, and instinct which she believes to be in everyone's interest. In leadership it is an important qualification for success because without it decision-making would be just too difficult and followers would be hard to create in any numbers. |
